1. Introduction
Welcome to Vadhuvar Parichay ("we," "our," "us," "Data Fiduciary"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and other applicable Indian laws, when you ("Data Principal") use our website Vadhuvar Parichay. By accessing or using our Website, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
A. Personal Data
- Name, date of birth, age, gender, height, and marital status
- Contact details (email, phone number, address)
- Photographs and biodata documents (PDF/image) uploaded for profile creation
- Religion, caste, sub-caste and community details, used solely to enable matchmaking preferences you and other users configure
- Family details (parents, siblings, uncles) and their contact information, where voluntarily provided
- Education and occupation details, including employer and income information
- Login credentials (password, stored in irreversibly hashed form) and OTP verification records
- Payment and subscription records processed via our payment gateway partner
- Any additional information you choose to provide for matchmaking purposes
B. Automatically Collected Information
- Browser type, IP address, device type, and operating system
- Cookies and usage data for analytics (only after your consent, see Section 8)
- User behavior, preferences, and interactions on our Website
3. How We Use Your Information
- To facilitate matrimonial matchmaking services
- To manage and enhance user profiles
- To improve user experience and Website functionality
- To communicate with users regarding services, updates, or inquiries
- To personalize content and recommendations
- To ensure security and prevent fraudulent activities
- To comply with legal requirements and obligations
We process your personal data only for the purposes for which you provided consent, and we do not use it for any purpose incompatible with those purposes without seeking fresh consent.
4. Consent
We collect your explicit consent at the time of registration before processing any personal data. Your consent choice (accepted, timestamp, and the policy version you agreed to) is recorded against your account. You may withdraw your consent at any time, with the same ease with which it was given, by writing to vadhuvar.connect@gmail.com or by deleting your account (Section 6). Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal, and may result in us being unable to continue providing the matchmaking service to you.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure (Data Processors)
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only as strictly necessary with the following categories of recipients:
- With registered users, for the limited purpose of matchmaking (e.g. profile details visible to logged-in members)
- Firebase / Google Cloud (Authentication, Firestore database) — hosting and storage of your account and profile data
- Supabase — secure storage of uploaded photographs and biodata files
- Twilio — delivery of SMS OTP for mobile number verification
- Razorpay — processing of membership payments; we do not store your card/bank details
- Google Gemini AI — when you use the optional "auto-fill from biodata" feature, the uploaded document is sent to Google's Generative AI API solely to extract profile fields; this may involve processing outside India. We only use this feature at your initiation.
- Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager — website usage analytics, activated only with your cookie consent
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot/fraud verification during registration and login
- If required by law, regulation, or legal process
- In case of a business transfer, merger, or acquisition
Where personal data is transferred outside India (for example to our AI or analytics processors), we take reasonable steps to ensure such processors provide a comparable standard of protection to your data.
6. Data Retention & Your Right to Erasure
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account remains active, or as required to comply with our legal obligations (e.g. payment/tax records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may permanently delete your account, all candidate profiles, and uploaded files at any time from Dashboard → General Settings → Delete My Account. This action immediately and irreversibly removes your Firestore profile data, uploaded photographs and biodata from storage, and your authentication credentials.
If you do not log in or renew your subscription for an extended period, we may deem your account inactive and, after prior notice to your registered email, delete the associated personal data unless retention is required by law.
7. Data Security & Breach Notification
We implement reasonable security safeguards — including password hashing, bot/fraud verification (Turnstile), signed, time-limited URLs for private files, and restricted access to our production credentials — to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to affect you, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected Data Principals as required under the DPDP Act.
8. Your Rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you and the processing activities (Right to Access)
- Correct, complete, and update your personal data via Edit Profile (Right to Correction)
- Erase your personal data that is no longer necessary, via Delete My Account (Right to Erasure)
- Withdraw consent at any time (Section 4)
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf, in the event of death or incapacity
- Have readily available means to register a grievance with us (Section 11)
